About the Case
FTI serves as the Sales Agent for Universidade Luterana do Brasil, aiming to settle the claims of Labor Creditors in the Judicial Recovery proceedings number 5002932-89.2020.8.21.0008, sanctioned in December 2023. The asset liquidation process encompasses over 60 properties, collectively valued at exceeding approximately BRL 1 billion.
With more than a century of history in the education sector, the company began its trajectory as a Higher Education Institution (HEI) with Faculdades Canoenses in 1972. At its peak, serving over 100,000 students with a mix of on-campus and distance learning options. By 2004, it hit a major milestone, boasting 47,000 students solely at its higher education campuses in Rio Grande do Sul. However, the company faced financial challenges due to a combination of tax debt, operational decline and the impacts of economic crises. Faced with this situation, the only viable option was to apply for Judicial Recovery.
